Q | What are the most popular items on your menu? Why?
A | While in our kitchen takeover phase we are only serving a few dishes: our staple dish Tuna Poké Bowl, Tofu Bowl and a Veggie Bowl, plus Wakame Seaweed Salad as a side. Our most popular dish is the Tuna Poké. Our vision is of course to expand this menu!
Q | Are there any items NOT on your menu that are staff favorites (that you’d be willing to serve up to any customer who asked)?
A | Not currently, but we plan to have a larger menu once we have our own place.
Q | Right now you’re taking over the kitchen at Oddfellows. Does your food pair especially well with any of their drinks?
A | Island-style drinks such as Mai Tai’s and Sake flavored drinks pair well. Or the OYO Daisy here at Oddfellows. Any drink that pairs well with raw fish and sushi will pair well with Hai Poké.
Q | Hai Poke is new to Columbus! What do people think so far?
A | We were just voted the #1 startup in Columbus from The Metropreneur Columbus and our feedback in general has been excellent. We love that a large amount of our pop up customers are repeat customers!
Q | What does “Hai Poké” mean?
A | Hai in Japanese is similar to the English word “yes” and is an agreeable term. In addition, Hai is a play on High Street, the main artery of Columbus. Originally the name was to be Hai Street Poke but we chose Hai Poke because the name sounded crisp. Poke is an Hawaiian sushi bowl typically consisting of tuna or other local seafood.
I can’t wait to see the Hai Poké space once they open their own place!
