Q | What are the most popular items on your menu? Why?
A | Columbus loves our menu which we believe is because of the TLC we put into every dish. Each dish is made from scratch, using high quality, whole ingredients, including many local ingredients like Middlefield Farms smoked cheddar in our Spicy Mac ’n Cheese. (One exception are the frozen french fries, which we serve just because I like them better!) Our Fried Chicken is very popular, people love the flavor which draws from the local Gerber Amish Chicken we use with an overnight buttermilk dredge, and our Secret Spice Blend whose recipe originated with a Riverboat Captain on the Mississippi many generations ago, and was perfected in our kitchen. Of course you can’t beat the very popular Fried Chicken Farm Salad, the Turkey Rambler, our Friday Blue Plate Chicken Pot Pie, and Carolina BBQ Sandwiches.
Q | Are there any items NOT on your menu that are staff favorites (that you’d be willing to serve up to any customer who asked)?
A | We have a small list of Old Favorites which we can often make if a customer requests one of them. We make delicious GF Fried Chicken, but it’s not on the menu because we are not able to make many orders at one time. Sometimes Double Comfort Team members will ask for a vegetarian version of different dishes, and usually our kitchen can accommodate the request. When the Hungarian Butcher gets his kitchen up and running in June, we will have Bacon Ribs on-request again.
Q | Tell me more about how you do brunch with a Southern flare.
A | The only thing better than Brunch, is a Southern Brunch, y’all! From Beehler Farms Country Ham, to house-made biscuits with honey, New Orleans’ Beignets, hand pulled collard greens, and the Double Comfort Eggs Sardou, we offer a taste of the south not often found above the Mason-Dixon line.
Q | Your menu boasts lots of Southern comfort food – so what makes it “Double?” :)
A | Our name is Double Comfort because we serve delicious southern comfort food, and we also donate our profits to local food pantries, thus providing “comfort” to others. #HaveaMealChangetheWorld
Cannot wait to go back and try the brunch! Who is with me next weekend? :)
