Q | What are the most popular items on your menu? Why?
A | Our menu is very diverse and can satisfy an array of palates. Our comfort food go-to is the pecan crusted chicken. We chop whole pecans up with a panko breading and coat chicken breasts with our house-made honey mustard dressing. This dressing can’t be beat by any bottled substitute! We also make fresh mashed potatoes from a 17 year old recipe and sauteed Ohio sweet corn. Our pizzas are some of the most popular items during the weekdays especially because we have a “Pizza and a Pint” night for only $12.95. Our normal pizza pricing is $12.95 so it’s basically a free beer!!!
Q | Are there any items NOT on your menu that are staff favorites (that you’d be willing to serve up to any customer who asked)?
A | Our Cajun Jambalaya is a staff favorite here. Brown rice is served with tiger shrimp, fresh salmon filet that is hand-cut in house, house-roasted chicken and seared Andouille sausage. We finish it off with fresh spinach and a spicy Roma tomato sauce. We employ quite a few vegans and vegetarians here! So our staff loves to create non-meat dishes. Our Executive Chef and I are also vegetarians and we make a mean vegan or vegetarian burrito!
Q | You seem to use a lot of beer in your cooking. It makes so much sense! What are a couple of the most successful beer-infused recipes?
A | The pulled pork sandwich we make here is smoked on site and the flavor profile is taken to the next level with the help of Columbus Brewing Company‘s Pale Ale as the marinade. We also have an outstanding beer-based pub cheddar cheese which is used on our famous nachos as well as the brunch burrito and huevos rancheros during Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11am-3pm.
Q | For people who may not be familiar, tell us about Bodhi DIPA. What makes it so special?
A | The Bodhi Double IPA is our best seller! We even have a notation on our beer menu of one growler per guest to serve as a reminder not to get angry at the staff when we run out of Bodhi…we don’t even let the staff drink it! :) Check out our caveat on our website: “If there is a particular beer you have your heart set on (ahhh hmmm…Bodhi), please call before arriving with an empty growler and a broken heart – 614-464-2739”
Q | Recently, I heard that you’re considering a space upgrade to accommodate more equipment for bigger brewing operations. How’s that coming?
A | Columbus Brewing Company and Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant are actually separately owned. The restaurant and brewery are just neighbors! I hear they are getting close to finding a new space to encourage a flow of beer to better suit the needs of Columbus’ booming craft beer scene.
