Q | What are the most popular items on your menu? Why?
A | On our normal dinner menu, Mac’n’Cheese flies out of the kitchen. It’s great for everyone because you can customize it: leave it plain, add tomato or jalapeno for $.75, or chicken or bacon for $2. You can even get crazy and add it all! At brunch, our most popular item is the breakfast burrito. It tends to cover all of the favorite breakfast items wrapped up in one tortilla.
Q | Are there any items NOT on your menu that are staff favorites (that you’d be willing to serve up to any customer who asked)?
A | No secrets here. Everything is out in the open on our delicious menu, but if you come in on Thursday we have a new special every week chosen by the chef. The specials are usually ideas for our second restaurant, Hadley’s, opening in 2016.
Q | One of the things Bodega is known for is daily specials (always awesome from my personal experience!). What’s the special that consistently draws the biggest crowds?
A | Hands down $1 grilled cheese on Monday. I suggest getting a cup of the tomato soup to dip it in. A cozy classic for a fall or winter day.
Q | Bodega is super into the craft beer scene. How many types do you offer and what are the most popular?
A | We have 46 alcoholic craft brews and one nonalcoholic rambling house ginger beer on tap. We rotate 33 of those taps and keep 14 of them the same at all times. Our best sellers definitely lean towards the local selections. Seventh Son Brewing Co. and Columbus Brewing Company are always the biggest hits.
Q | Bodega closed relatively recently for a renovation? What changed?
A | A lot changed! Most noticeable is the interior of the restaurant. The bar and taps were moved, along with opening the place up by putting in more seating and some family-style tables. The menu has changed entirely, and we have a new owner, Brian Swanson.
