Q | What are the most popular items on your menu? Why?
A | Our Lobster Mac ‘N Cheese is most definitely a favorite among locals and visiting guests. The dish is crafted with Atlantic Lobster, smoked gouda bechamel, fresh chives & cavatappi noodles. Our burgers are also very popular. In particular, the Market Burger made with a short-rib, sirloin, chuck & brisket patty. Topped with truffle leeks, prosciutto, sage, chili aoli and the best for last – a delicious sunny-side egg!
Q | Are there any items NOT on your menu that are staff favorites (that you’d be willing to serve up to any customer who asked)?
A | Every weekend, our Chef will craft 2-3 specials that keep things fresh (no pun intended). A few of our employees have been known to throw some asparagus on their Market Burger. Sounds weird, but it is delicious.
Q | Everyone knows I love a good happy hour. What are the details?!
A | Ahh, the happiest of hours. Ours is Monday through Friday from 3-6pm and we offer half off all drafts, gourmet pizzas and wines by the glass.
Q | Your website brings up atmosphere and history quite a bit – what can folks look forward to when they visit Arch City Tavern?
A | When designing the interior of our restaurant, we wanted to pay homage to the history of Columbus and the Short North area. Few people know the history behind the arches that drape High Street in the Short North. Columbus first became known as the “Arch City” in 1888 when more than 250,000 people (mostly Union Army veterans) gathered in the city of 90,000 for the 22nd annual Grand Army of the Republic encampment/convention. Wooden arches lit by gaslights were erected for the safety of visitors and history was made. Nearly 100,00 veterans marched down High street under the arches that week. When visiting Arch City Tavern, take time to enjoy the 3-wall pencil mural of historic High Street that was hand-drawn by Vasiliev Nini. The exposed brick walls, historical artwork, dim lighting and the lit arch running across the dining room gives our restaurant a unique, rustic atmosphere that we are very proud of. Don’t worry, we have several flat screens throughout the place so everyone can still enjoy watching our Buckeyes this season!
Q | You serve craft beer on draft from several local breweries. What’s your current personal favorite? Getting excited for any different items in the fall?
A | We currently have Don’t Fence Me In from Seventh Son Brewing and it is absolutely delicious if you love a good session IPA. Upcoming, we’re excited about getting the Blood Orange Imperial Witbier from Maumee Bay Brewing Co. in Toledo, Ohio.
