Event: “Bowls and Babes” Blogger Brunch

My amazingly delicious (and filling!) pitaya bowl with puffed quinoa, strawberries, chia seeds, bee pollen, cacao nibs, and flaked coconut

A few weeks ago, I received an invite to a blogger brunch from Alexis Joseph a.k.a. Director of Nutrition and Communication at Alchemy Juice, a.k.a Hummusapien, a.k.a. nicest human ever. In preparation for the event, we got to choose how to create our own pitaya (dragonfruit) bowls with any toppings we wanted! At the brunch this morning, I got to spend time with so many fabulous people – Lauren of Whole Living Lauren, Ewa of nomlife, Sally of Real Mom Nutrition, Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean, Carolyn of Always Against the Grain, Arman of Big Man’s World, and Lauren of LOLO LLC.
Being around all these driven, positive, motivated people got me thinking of what I’m thankful for this year. We often focus on saying we’re thankful for family, friends, and health – but of course we are. I’m choosing to instead focus on the things that are mentioned less often:
1. I’m thankful for the community of like-minded people that surround and support me. The other food bloggers who take photos of their food with me, the photographers with whom I can discuss lighting and website tips, and the small business owners who help me celebrate the highs and lament the lows.
2. I’m thankful to live in a city whose residents embrace new businesses, new restaurants, and new ideas. I believe we often take these things for granted in our growing, intelligent, gorgeous home.
3. I’m thankful that I crave creativity every day, and that those around me are so supportive of my passions, goals, and aspirations. This is my 101st post on Best of the Menu and I couldn’t have done it without the support and love of a whole lot of people!

Yummmm toppings!

So many beautiful bowls

Those colors though…

If you ever wondered what it was like to eat with a bunch of food bloggers…this is standard.

What are you thankful for this year?
Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

  1. I love the colors of those bowls, especially the purple! I’m glad you’re surrounded by good company! You can’t put a price on that.

I’m thankful for having my own labor of love. It keeps my life exciting and connects me with new and interesting people. I don’t what I’d do without out!
